The course is designed to facilitate students' self-directed learning, guided by the principles of student-centered learning and Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The course comprises the following components: Orientation and introduction Individual literature study: Independent reading and essay writing based on assigned course materials (scientific articles) Peer evaluation conducted in pairs or small groups, based on individual literature study Reflection

- Basic principles of philosophy of science - The objectives of doing research - Research process - Choice of research methods - The specific features of qualitative and quantitative research - Data gathering, methods, analysis and reporting - Assessing the quality of research

Hybrid delivery mode (full online participation possible). General course meetings (1-2 per academic year); seminar sessions with student presentations (approx. once per academic year). Each student will make total of five presentations/deliverables during the doctoral studies with a progressively developing contents related to the doctoral dissertation. They include: (1) Research plan, (2) Research paper draft, (3) Practical relevance pitch, (4) Pre-defense version of the doctoral thesis.

Core content: This course covers the main topics of multiple criteria decision making under certainty, uncertainty and risk. The topics discussed during the course therefore include: principles of decision making under certainty, uncertainty, risk and ignorance, multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) and evaluation methods (TOPSIS, AHP), the use evaluations of absolute and relative type, efficiency assessment models (DEA), game theory (non-cooperative games of two players, cooperative games of two players with/without transferable gains, games against nature), validation of decision support systems and models and sensitivity analysis. MATLAB and Excel are used to build the models and solve assignments, to showcase the practical application of the presented methods. Additional content: fuzzy logic in decision-making is also covered, along with topics such as decision-support systems (DSS), expert systems and optimization. Special content: The course also introduces students to the basics of multiple expert decision-making and reaching consensus.

The course covers key elements of digitalization in purchasing and supply management, including the role of digital technologies such as AI, opportunities for digitalization in procurement activities and supplier relationship management, and the impact of these technologies on procurement performance and managerial decision-making. The course also introduces relevant concepts, frameworks, and practical tools that support the digital transition of purchasing and supply management and deepen students’ understanding of this transformation.

Principles of academic research in business. Use of information sources and library services. Foundations of academic writing. Application of research methods to empirical material. Argumentation, peer review, and critical discussion of other students’ theses.

The course explores how globalization, mobility of capitals, and sustainability challenges shape international business and entrepreneurship in diverse and evolving contexts. It provides an updated view to different business actors and contexts. This course equips students to navigate complex global challenges and drive sustainable, inclusive business practices and flourishing. It fosters critical thinking and global awareness essential for responsible management.

The course focuses on planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, management theories, managerial roles, and leadership styles. The topics are discussed in a global context – global economy, free trade, sustainable business, and global south-north differences – requiring an ethical and sustainable approach to management and leadership. The course is highly interactive, connecting theory and practice through inviting industry guests as well as a team workshop carried out by an external lecturer.

Strategisen myynnin pro gradu -seminaari on lukuvuoden mittainen, rakenteellinen prosessi, joka tukee pro gradu -tutkielman laatimista. Seminaarityöskentely ajoittuu koko lukuvuodelle (periodit 1–4). Seminaari sisältää säännöllisiä tapaamisia (noin kerran kuukaudessa) sekä johdantoluennot syys- ja kevätlukukauden alussa. Seminaari tukee tutkielmaprosessin etenemistä seuraavien vaiheiden kautta: · tutkielma-aiheen tarkentaminen sekä tutkimusongelman määrittely ja rajaus kirjallisuuskatsaus ja teoreettisen viitekehyksen rakentaminen tutkimusasetelman suunnittelu ja aineiston keruu aineiston analyysi ja tulkinta tutkielman kirjoittaminen ja viimeistely Opiskelijat esittelevät omaa tutkielmatyötään seminaarissa ja saavat palautetta muilta opiskelijoilta ja ohjaajilta. Opiskelijat toimivat myös opponentteina toisten opiskelijoiden töille. Opiskelijan tulee osallistua niihin seminaaritilaisuuksiin, joissa hän esittelee omaa työtään sekä niihin, joissa hän toimii sovitusti opponenttina toisen opiskelijan työlle. Muuhun seminaarityöskentelyyn osallistuminen on vapaaehtoista, mutta suositeltavaa, sillä seminaari tarjoaa mahdollisuuksia kehittää tieteellisen työskentelyn ja esittämisen taitoja.

This course develops communication, argumentation, and negotiation skills for finance professionals. Students learn to communicate financial reasoning clearly, respond to disagreement constructively, and adapt their message to different professional audiences. The course combines selected material on professional interaction, social awkwardness in workplace communication, principles of debate, and negotiation techniques. The core of the course consists of in-class role-playing sessions based on realistic situations that financial professionals may face, such as defending analysis, challenging assumptions, handling difficult stakeholders, and negotiating priorities. Students prepare for selected role-playing tasks throughout the course, including structured practice with AI tools. Each role-playing task is completed twice, allowing students to apply feedback, improve their argumentation, and develop confidence in professional communication.

Kurssin yksityiskohtainen opintosuunnitelma jaetaan kurssin alussa. Opiskelijat osallistuvat sisällöntuotantoon, keskusteluun ja pohdintaan oppimispäiväkirjojen ja verkkokeskusteluiden avulla.

Opintojaksolla opiskelija pääsee perehtymään uusimpaan teoriaan, joka vaikuttaa yrityksen valintoihin strategisessa myynnissä. Opiskelija pääsee myös toimimaan yritysten kanssa ja rakentamaan osana opiskelijatiimiä myynnin kehittämisprojektin ennalta valittuun yritykseen. ?

Opintojakson aikana perehdytään hankintatoiminnan tärkeisiin osa-alueisiin erityisesti kaupan alan kontekstissa. Opintojaksolla käsitellään hankintatoiminnan taloudellisia tavoitteita ja asemaa liiketoiminnassa, hankintastrategiaa ja ulkoistamista, sekä toimittajasuhteiden hallintaa vastuullisuuden ja riskien hallinnan näkökulmista.
