Meaningful work is increasingly important to people and especially pursued amongst younger generations. Experiencing one’s work as meaningful results in many positive consequences, such as work satisfaction and eudaimonic wellbeing. At its’ best, it helps people to discover agency in the world characterized by several crises such as climate breakdown, conflict, inequality, and the political divide. Purpose-led organizations focus on driving purposeful change whilst providing their employees with meaningful work and regenerating the operational environment. The course considers the topics of meaningful work and purpose-led organizations by introducing an action-oriented pedagogical approach to studying, including lectures, case examples, and co-operative learning methods. Via co-operative learning methods students will form research questions of the course topics and explore them by different methods and informed by theoretical inputs. Co-operative learning methods will also include meaningful action as experiments during the course. The course supports student integration as well as working life skills by learning methods that apply participatory action and allowing reflection on students’ future roles as agents in work life through the concept of meaningful work. The course focuses on the role of arts-based methods in innovation and organizational development. The arts-based methods mean applying art and its methods to increase people's knowledge and skills by opening experiential knowledge, intuition, and tacit knowledge that can be applied in organizational development. The aim of the course is to introduce arts-based methods and how arts-based methods facilitate, for example, building up dialogue between different people, lowering barriers to make-sense on complicated issues, and share experiences as well as imagine possibilities and future scenarios. Theoretically, the course draws on collective creativity, sense-making, and reflection. In practical level, the course introduces the use of arts-based methods in a variety of industries with visiting lectures and experts.

Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical exercises, students will explore various futures research methods and develop the skills necessary to implement them effectively in organizational development contexts. The core content of the course includes: Understanding the complexities of organizational environments Introduction to futures research and foresight Understanding the role of strategic foresight in organizational planning Developing the ability to think critically about long-term development Application of futures research methods in organizational development Engaging in experiential learning and practical testing and implementation of futures research methods

The course focuses on efficient utilization of intellectual property rights (IPR) and standards information to support competitive intelligence analysis and strategic decision making in organizations. IPR and standardization systems are focal institutions of international trade that impact the rate and direction of technological progress. All companies need to make strategic decisions regarding IPRs and standardization as well as follow the IPR, standardization and regulatory landscapes in their target markets. Students will conduct a course project where they analyze the IPR and standardization environment from the perspective of a specific company and industry.

During the introductory course, students will receive essential instructions on master's level education in industrial engineering and management at LUT University, problem-based and integrative education, LUT culture, and the Lahti region.

This course provides students with essential knowledge regarding artificial intelligence applications in industrial contexts. It focuses on advanced techniques for searching and analyzing data, predicting outcomes, and developing intelligent solutions to address industrial challenges.

Ydinaines: syvennetään osaamista jollakin tuotantotalouden osa-alueella ja kehitetään yleisiä tieteellisen kirjoittamisen ja projektiluontoisen tutkimustyön valmiuksia. Täydentävä tieto: ongelmanmäärittely ja jäsentäminen, kirjallisuustiedon hankinta, tiedon jäsentäminen, kirjallinen raportointi, suullinen esittäminen. Yritysyhteistyö Kandityön voi tehdä yrityksen toimeksiannosta, jos yritysaiheita on tarjolla tai opiskelijalla on valmis kontakti, mutta työn toteutuksessa tulee huomioida yleiset kanditöitä koskevat säännöt ja ohjeet. Tekoälysovellusten käyttö Tekoälytyökaluja voi käyttää omatoimisesti esimerkiksi ideoinnissa ja tekstin viimeistelyssä, mutta opiskelija on aina itse vastuussa lopputuloksen laadusta.

Diplomityö on diplomi-insinöörin tutkinnon opinnäyte. Yleensä työ on yrityksen toimeksiannosta tehty kehittämishanke, jonka kesto on noin 6 kuukautta. Työ sisältää vastuullisen työskentelyn tuotantotalouden alaan liittyvässä yrityksen kehittämishankkeessa, hankkeen raportoinnin diplomityön muodossa ja oman työn esittelyn 1. tarkastajan määräämällä tavalla. Ennen työn palautusta sen alkuperäisyys on tarkastettava kurssin moodle-sivuilla Turnitin-ohjelmalla. Tuotantotalouden koulutusohjelma järjestää syys- ja kevätlukukaudella diplomityöhön liittyvät keskustelutilaisuudet suomeksi ja englanniksi. Opiskelijan on anottava diplomityön aiheen vahvistamista (1A-lomake) heti, kun työn aihe ja ohjaaja ovat tiedossa. Lisätietoja eLUT:ssa.

This course is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in their field of study and facilitate their future employment by fostering industry connections. During the projects or internships, students hone their abilities to apply what they have learned in university courses to real-world situations and gain new knowledge from industry experts. These newly acquired skills and knowledge can then be applied to academic work.

The INLOG Master’s Thesis Seminar provides Master's students with theoretical insights and practical tools for their master’s theses. The course will include lectures and seminars that prepare student in completing the research plan for the master’s thesis. During the course, students will develop a research plan for a topic agreed with the supervisor and present their research plans at different stages as well as give feedback on other students’. 

Learning topics include: · Personal selling tools · Story creation · Buyer/seller psychology and behaviour · Sales strategy building · Team building and compensation planning · Commercialization process for innovations · Venture funding planning · Technology valuation process · Intellectual property rights Learning is implemented by independent study materials, practical workshops and contact lectures. Teaching methods include workshop-based lectures, presentations, real-life cases, guest speakers, online tasks and report writing. The lectures of the course will be held mostly as contact classes. 

The course aims to provide guidelines to students on how to conduct research in management and how to report research results. The course is a combination of online and traditional teaching. Course consists of lectures, practical seminars (online or offline) and students’ presentations and group work. Topics include but not limited to research questions formulation, literature review, choice of research methods, research design, collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data. Research report and presentations are an essential part of course evaluation. Research reports are done in groups. Significant load of independent work is planned in this course.

Among lectures, course contains case exercises (which will combine the issues of different transportation modes and related networks together with use of IT tools) and written literature review (from selected and agreed topic - this is plagiarism checked by Turnitin).
